evo's dont seem to be losing value as quick though.. thats all im thinking

my mate had an evo 2 before, no matter how much **** it got, it still went perfect, every time i give the scoob a bit of ****, have to spend money fixin it...

are evo's a bit less 'delicate' ?

I'd say Evos are more delicate as they need a lot more looking after. Hope you have deep pockets from what I have heard.

Saying that, Evos are beautiful in an ugly car way. Would be the VI or IX for me though. Older than the VI and they start to look a bit dated.

Clutches can be a bit dodgy, higher running costs, servicing etc, slightly less MPG, actually easier to drive than a scoob with the ECU doing a lot of work......this is all what Ive read and heard from various places.

Some have a decent sound but not like the scooby rumble, tbh, id only have a 6 onwards if I was to get one.

I'd be tempted by a EVO 6 Tommi Makinen or EVO 9.

Had a IV prior to my STI, great car but even more hardcore than my scooby. Given the choice having had both I would take the subaru everytime, even if it is just for the soundtrack.
Must admit though I do love the looks of the Evo, the V more so than the IV. look into servicing as it can really start to add up more so than the STI given the active yaw ect.
Worth reading up about them as IV's can suffer crankwalk , I would also reccomend to get it chacked over by a specialist, including compression.

Dont let it put you off though, sometimes a change is as good as a rest and scoobies are no pug oil burner to keep on the road either.

I bought a Tommi Mak last year after having 2 scoobs. Worst car i've ever had. I had it 3 months and it was in the garage for 2 of them. Trying to source parts was a nightmare.

Back in a scoob again now !!!!!!!!!!!

isnt the 4s engine prone for going pop? most sorted ones I went to look at seemed to have a 5 or 6 engine in them. check its been well serviced if its not been replaced would be my advice. power delivery in the 4 seemed slack in comparison to my sti v3 type ra.

hth

The Subaru looks nice but the older evos like the 4 will start giving you problems about now,so will the Sub but it will be cheaper to fix the Sub but you will say (I should have got the EVO)

The problem with R33 skylines is they've only got 5 speed gearbox, when the bird was selling her supra we had loads of people calling about the car and most of them saying they've had a skyline and hated it and were wanting the supra coz it was a 6 speed
