No face lift front end but face lifted interior with airbags

i have a v4 type r it has a small bit of red on seats near the shoulder area at each side with sti written on seats same dash as v5 with two pockets on top and white dials

I had a STi IV. Great car, very fast, and feels it

Often these have a little piston slap, but if it goes when warm it's nothing to worry about generally.

Ive just bought a V4 sti, it came with a V3 front end and a 98 version interior(twin airbags, top mount glove box), albeit sti with white dials momo steering wheel, red stitched sti seats.

v1 and 2 pre faclift non crystal older style dash
v3 faclift bonnet and headlights still non crystal same bumper as v1,2 and older dash
v4,v5 faclift bonnet and headlights still non crystal same bumper as v1,2,3 but later dash

Yes i know but its a V5 car, i assumed he meant pre facelift front as in no smiley grill like V1 and V2 cars

as i thought it was a version 4 is r to s reg

had a uk r reg had older front and dash, i think on the s plate is where they started to change.
t 99 plate has updated front and dash v5 i think

Yep the version 4 has the 3 slat front bumper with the newer facelift dash.It has the facelift bonnet (with the black vents) and grill same as the version 3.Version 5-6 had a revised 2 slat bumper and a more pronounced front grille and crystal headlights

Both myself and my mate John have V4 cars, his is a Type R and mine is a WRX

He has the facelift lights and bonnet with the older style bumper but has the older dash

My car has the same front end but the new style dash

another of my mates also has a V4 Type R and his has the same front again but also has the new style dash the same as me

strikes me as some have the early V4 cars where Subaru obviously had some older style dash's left over and others have later cars fitted with the new dash

my car was first registered in Japan in March 1998

To OP, as previously said, try and get as much info as possible on the mods carried out dont just take the sellers word for it

ok then guys, my car has the older grill, 3 slat bumper but facelift bonnet with black vents and lights and lower rear spoiler,,,,,,, its got ABS and got red shoulders on the seats and a old style dash

older dash will be a version 3.Easiest way is to check the applied model code which is stamped on the plate under the bonnet (near the passenger side suspension turret)

Mine is a P reg V3 as said above it will have the older style dash if its a V3

wen i spoke to dave at api he asked me the version so i said i wasnt sure i just sed its a 96 and he said it was a v4,any got a pic of what a version 4 interior should be like

Check your model code against this site but if its a 96 and has facelift front end it will be a V3

There is no way a 96 car is a version IV. They were built from late 97 to late 98.
