Remap with standard CAT? (MY07)
Afternoon all. I'm looking at getting a remap soon and the general consensus seems to be that changing the CAT is the best thing to do. Since I'm not looking for 350bhp and chasing 911s around all day i'll be happy with 330ish but ideally without needing to change the standard CAT. I've already ordered an uprated fuel pump on Bob Rs advice and will be fitting a better panel filter in a week or so.
So has anyone gone down this remap route with there standard CATs and what issues have they seen?
Cheers!
David

why would you want to keep the standard cat??
swapping the cat for a de cat pipe is an easy way of getting a little bit more power.
if your're worried about mot/emissions problems go for a sports cat.

I don't think you will have too much bother getting IRO 330 from a catted DP on the 2.5 STi. As long as you decat the rear centre cat (under the car) I think you will be fine. PPP on the MY07 does not touch the DP only the rear centre cat so replicating what they do, only a little less reserved, should see your 330.
I achieved a conservative 335-350 on a sports cat DP but I only fitted it as I had it available from my last car. Going on your post I wouldn't bother, the 2.5 torque makes the power so much more available why pay more? You also have the added benefit of less mechanical intervention should you wish to return to standard It would be worthwhile asking your mapper to save the orignal map for you for the same reason. (or warranty claim!).
Either way your car will feel so much more capable than before

I've already put a high flow centre pipe on it so from the sounds of it I should be good to go. I will be going to Bob to get it mapped so once he gives it all the thumbs up I'll buy the new fuel pump and sort out a date
Thanks all!
Thanks all!

Don't bother with a fuel pump on your car. The standard is good for 400bhp. On the safe side if you go over 350bhp then upgrade it.
£400 is sorts cat money mate. You can get a decat downpipe for between £1-200. It is worth doing IMO and I am not into heavily modifying cars.
I'm quite sure you get a sports cat in the downpipe with the PPP. The cat after the downpipe does next to nothing.
I think you would struggle to get 320bhp with the standard cat tbh.

Only makes 316bhp so the fuel pump is unnecessary and the backbox is csometic... so nearly two grand for a remap lol

Which is precisely why I don't want to get a prodrive pack. Major rip off.
