Agreed. I would cherish the 07 more as it is the last iconic model and have more road presence. However, I'm sure the 08 is a better all rounder and 9 out of 10 people will want the later model when it comes down to it.

hmmmm....

I agree with you, at the moment both cars are priced within 10% of each other.

The 2007 car has DCCD, the 2008 has that system ( + auto -) tried by Tiff Needell in 5th gear.

Decisions Decisions

anyone else?
cheers

Same price too? I think in the current climate having the lower power map on the 08 would swing it for me despite the looks. Get some better springs or roll bars and the new would would be pretty spot on.

08 for me. Cars change and the Hatch is the better all round car. From a future re-sale point of view again it has to be the Hatch.

IMHO

07 mate............that look is what subaru was made on.
I mean how mean do they look.
Im sorry but for all the technology on the new car, your always gonna think "this looks pish"
You can also mod the 07 which will have strong internals, and its a recognised look.
I know what i would choose everytime.

The 08' - the Hawkeye could never have been described as good looking anyway, these cars are all about how they drive anyway.
The newage shape will soon start looking very dated, whereas the hatch shape has many, many years in it. Just get the rear lights tinted asap!

MY05 STi - better looking than both of them and it has the DCCD-A

then spend £5k on taking it to 400+BHP and Gordon Brown will take the remaining £2k off your hands

Thats what i thought, but wasnt sure if it was US cars i remember it from... because they seem to melt a 07 STi engine every other day.

My previous answer wasnt overly constructive, however if i had the choice of those 2 (knowing that you wont get a brand new 05 STi and the fact that you clearly want a 0 mileage car - i was the same position but for MY05 or MY06 and went for an MY05 on an 06 plate) i would personally go for the MY08 as its just a better car and i cant get on with the 'Hawkeye' looks.

I get the feeling the MY08 STi will be like the MY02 STi - butt ugly when released, but as the years have gone on they look better and better. (infact i now love the MY02 STi Prodrive because its just right in todays world)

The MY07 is old hat now - imagine how old it will look when you come to sell it!?

The choice, the wise choice, is the MY08 - it will look fresh and current long after the 07 has faded into obscurity.

They are the same system. MY08 car just has preset 'programmes' to choose from as well as manual adjustment.

Go for the 07, the first shape Impreza not to win the WRC driver or manufacturer championship in history

The 08 shape still has a chance to make an impact

This community is so fickle, it was only a couple of months ago every one on here was slagging the new car off.

The MY08 will resell easier in future, but I still don't really like it as much as the saloons (with the exception of the fugley eye), so if I was planning on keeping the car a good while I would go MY07.
