Default Rb5 getting mapped next Tuesday

Well after owning my RB5 for 2 months and doing no more than 80 miles in that time, it will be getting road mapped next week.

The car was totally standard when I got my mits on it but I have added the following.

VF28
Full H+S decat with 3" d/p
Walbro pump
Uprated panel filter
3 port boost solenoid
PFR7B plugs

I can't justify any other mods for it yet, but I think the mods I have added should transform the car.
I have not had a car road mapped before so it should be fun.

Any ideas on power outputs?

Simtek is a great ecu, use one myself now instead of my Motec M800, however at this level the OEM ecu is more than good enough, Mocom can't map those for your car though which, I guess, is why 53WRX is pushing Simtek at you even though you don't need it.

for clarification

cheers

Whatever Bob

Clearly the "Offered by most mappers on SNet" escaped you

The Mocom page simply explains what SimTek is in response to Bob r not knowing about it. As for pushing it I have it, its great so why not treat yourself

Errr...Wheres the pushing here then Mr Rawle?

If you read the posts, 53WRX was clearly only replying to a querie. Thats a totally unrequired comment i think. Professional?

bob r - The simtek is great bit of kit if you decide that you might want to take tuning much further at a later stage. I'd look into it if you are going to be tuning more. Failing that, Ecutek will be fine for what you need. Its just nice to have a look at other options out there once in a while before you spend your hard earned.

Good luck with your mapping sir.

I'm back

Well, I limped 50 miles this evening to get the car mapped. I managed to keep it under 2.5k revs to be on the safe side.

After AndrewC (the mapper) did his handy work the results are fantastic.
It now pulls like a train, right up to the Red line and it sounds awesome.

The power runs were great fun feeling the car being transormed with the tap of the key board buttons.

Figures were 329 bhp and 309 ft/lb.

Unfortunately, a few miles on my journey home (which should have been fun) I noticed at idle the revs were hunting (Maff sensor)?

So I limped home again, at 2.5k revs.

The CEL check just shows a constant flashing light?

Anyway a big to AndrewC who is mainly found on LADSOC. Top man.

Haven't a clue. The ecu sits under the passenger footwell and does not need accessing, as there is a connector block under the dash that is hooked up to.

Oh right, though they connected it from th ECU itself.
I think it would have been a pink STI one, as I just sold my PPP one, which I'm told is the difference between the RB5 and the UK turbo. Too late now, but you can normally get a bit for them ECU's, to go towards buying a standard eCU and then the mapping.

Just to add to the above.

The plugs, fuel pump and Green filter were new. The rest sourced off Scoobynetters - used parts.

All fitted by myself relatively easy, just do your research and use correct tools.
