Default Just had a blast in a PPP Hawkeye :)

Probably not the brightest move I've ever made since I'm saving for a flat but after I dropped the missus back to Luton I popped over to Slipend Subaru to see if they had any PPPs to compare to my STI Hawkeye.

Anyway, what a difference a few more bhp can make! Much more of a sustained push and from 5k it was just silly acceleration compared to my standard STI. £1700 is a lot to ask for though but I have to say it's mighty tempting although strictly speaking a huge waste of money too (at least that's what my sensible side thinks).

I've purposely stayed off here for a while since I bought mine in December but now I'm pondering what a call to Bob Rawle could do if I put on a new exhaust system.... would that be a cheaper method of getting a little more umph to keep me happy?

This modding lark is like pandora's box

I've got a PPP 2.5 STI.
If I were you, I'd go to powerstation or someone like that and get a Miltek exhaust (or something similar) fuel pump etc.etc. and a remap. Much better bangs for your buck and the remap will be tailor made for you and your car!

I've got an Hawkeye STI PPP and I'd go the powerstation route as well. Mine came when I bought it but for 1400 you can go a lot further than PPP.

Either way it still brings a smile to my face every day !!!!

Seems to be the common theme guys. How much does Bob Rawle charge for the remaps and will I be alright with just some uprated plugs, midpipe, backbox (Prodrive one) and a better panel filter?

I'm looking at the Powerstation/Milltek option for my 06 Spec D when the warranty runs later this year. Whats your opinion of it, performance wise, but also any idea how it fares fuel wise compared to a standard 2.5 STi.

Whats the Milltek like for sound ? I'd take the cat'd version of the kit, and while I don't mind an increase in noise, and rumble, I don't want a stupidly loud system - PPP equivalent is fine.

Any feedback appreciated

Cheers,

Gareth

i have the powerstation upgrade on my 06 sti had it on for two years now big difference over standard and the miltec with the 100 cell cat only makes 90 decebels of noise so not to noisey just right imo. by the way this upgrade does not need the new fuel pump as quoted above never had any probs with mine and the car is mainly used for trackdays and europe trips.

Fuel wise, I've not noticed any drop or gain in fuel consumption.
I'm running a Revolution 3" decat and do a lot of motorway miles that doesn't bother me sound wise.

Good advice guys. I've emailed Bob just out of interest but I'll likely just buy a new exhaust to get a better sound and put my money into the flat deposit and away the 10% drop in house prices next year

My Bob Rawle mapped Hawkeye STi made 384BHP and 428ft/lb after fuel pump, 3" Magnex decat exhaust and STi panel filter
