Crash this morning (liability question)
#1
Was partly invloved in a crash on the M40 this morning.
2 cars were involved in a crash in front of me and the resultant debris hit the front of my car. Where does the liability stand? There is no bad damage to my car due to the armour fend, but the lower front bumper and spoiler are scraped slightly and has chipped the paint off. I have the details of one of the drivers.
How should I proceed?
Thank you...

A claim like that is a tricky one. You'd end up claiming from your insurance company, and they might claim from some of the others.
Best not to lose your no-claims bonus methinks.
Least you weren't involved proper.

More movement of my posts...
Ok, so it's not serious and you know me Cem, I don't get too bothered about scrapes. It's certainly not a replacement jobby but it could do with some touching up. The armour fend seemed to save the day! I certainly did whack a bumper and a few light clusters though at about 60 mph!
Is it really a claim on my insurance??? I am not at fault in any way it's the damage caused by another persons property. The police turned up and I said I was doing the off. He said make sure you pick up some speed before joining the carriage way, but in that thing you won't have much trouble...

Fullon,
From a legal point of view, if you didn't know which of the 2 cars/drivers was responsible for damaging your car, you'd have to sue both. That is a bit extreme for what sounds like minor damage so IMHO you're best off reporting it to your insurers who (I guess) will then deal with both other insurers to recover what they pay you to get the repairs sorted.
Last resort - don't claim and sort out the repairs yourself to avoid the hassle.

Shouldn't this be in insurance ?
Sorry m8, only taking the mickey
With every bit of damage, you have to ask yourself ... will I be sure 100 % that my claim will not cost me more in the end ?
Rum* ? Any views on this ?

Ok thanks for the advice everyone (and the resurection of the topic.)
I think I will just have to leave it then as there is no point putting in a claim to have the bumper done when it's through my insurance (wouldn't even clear the excess amount.)
Looks like I've been stiffed.
