Default Explain this........

Just got my Tax disc renewal through the door. Now my CO2 level is recorded as 325g/KM on the V5 and is also recorded on the reminder. Last year, my importer had to pay £300 for the years tax. Ok, I hear you say, where am I going with this.

The 12 month price for renewal this year is...............................

£210.

Has Darling made a U-Turn? LOL, I don't care I'm renewing as soon as I can!

The cost of vehicle tax for cars, motorcycles, light goods vehicles and trade licences : Directgov - Motoring

£210 is the rate for cars registered on or after 1st March 2001, but before 23/03/06, with a CO2 level of over 185. (225 level doesn't apply).

You mean it was an import presumably, manufactured in 2004 but first registered in the UK in 2007...?

Yeah, first registered in Japan in 2004, first registered in UK 2007. First year was £300 indicating this year should have been £400.

Yeah situation as mine.

Just been looking at my V5:
B: Date of first registration 01/09/05
[B.1] Date of first registration in the UK 01/11/07 (when I imported it)

If yours looks similar, then it looks to me like they might be taxing from the date of first registration in Japan on yours, thus putting you before the March 06 band G increase.

Hope mine is the same when I come to renew :-)

Dont know if its relevant, but when i done mine it said £300 but when i actually bought it online it was £400(which i expected).

Then again my old Spec C(04) was £210(i think), crazy i know.

Looking at my V5 closely I can see why now. The date of first registration is the same as the date of first registration in the UK, i.e. 2004. Result! Doesn't exlpain why the first years tax was £300 though.

So what did you pay in the end...£400 or £210.

Just got far enough buying mine online so I could see how much it was, before cancelling, and it was £400

I can't do it before the 15th, but £210 is all that's on the reminder.
