You should have a certificate in the pack. If not a call to Prodrive with the reg number/vin number would clarify it.

Can I ask why you did not check BEFORE you bought?

Blimey........ in the middle of the country then so lots of choice LOL

It depends on what you want to do, the bugeye STi is the performance bargain of the century IMHO

Personally I'd drive the car around for a while and get used to it because out of the box it's a nice all round package

Chase up Subaru for the PPP info though.

and take it from there

On topic: If it has the ppp installed, you would know from the docs; the cert would be there (if they spent 2k on an upgrade, they won't lose the cert!) A quick check of the exhaust will give an indication aswell- if the tail pipe has "sti" stamped- no upgrade. If its "prodrive" your cooking most likley.

Off topic: i got an 2002 prodrive sti recently and i am now interested in upgrading- is a simple remap enough? seems quick and easy. Or do i need more than that? (sorry for the hijack! hopefully the above info helps compensate!)

Best value mod is a Whiteline adjustable rear anti-roll bar plus drop-links !

Kills the understeer and makes the car much nicer to drive !

Welcome to the world of bug-eyes !

You probably confused by the name of the car.

When the STI was first released in the UK there were 2 types

WRX STI Type UK
WRX STI Type UK Prodrive Style

Both had the same power.
Prodrive version had big rear spoiler, different side skirts, different front bumper and blue dials.
I had one myself.

I recently purchased a WRX STi UK PPP M/Y 02. The description in the log book states quite clearly PPP and from the outside it is a PPP. However, I asked Bob Rawle to look at the ECU on his last visit and it is a standard STi ECU and when I checked the fuel pump it is a standard Subaru fuel pump. If it was sold as a PPP I would have expected it to have the Prodrive Performance package including the remap or at least a chip and an uprated pump.
When I put the car on the ramp it had an after market downpipe and uppipe both bearing a small rectangular metal tag showing the tuners name.
Steve Simpson kindly put the car on the rolling road and it produced 269.2 bhp consistently so clearly it did not have the performance package ECU and was only producing around standard power despite the "performance" uppipe and downpipe.
The uppipe was a bit of a joke and yesterday I replaced the headers with my own ported headers and purpose designed up-pipe and Walbro 342 fuel pump.
I took acceleration figures before this was done. 4th gear, 1500-7,000 rpm.
17.41
16.63
17.15
16.78
16.75
17.13
Tomorrow or Friday I will get the new figure for change of up-pipe and ported headers and I will put them on here.
It is then my intention to reset the ECU and obtain another set of figures in advance of having the car mapped so there should be some interesting performance information to come.

Does anyone have any comments regards the standard ECU and fuel pump???

Mine is descrided as a Prodrive Edition, it shouldn't mention PPP as it's not strictly approved for sale on a new vehicle as standard.... hence ONLY a dealer fit option !

IMHO

Still seems to be ongoing confusion on here re Prodrive Style cars and PPP...

Also I believe MY02 PPP did not include fuel pump mod.
