Air Con Service Hsitory????
#1
Why do I have an air con logbook (by coolair)? Just booked in for the 12 month service & dealer says he aint gonna touch the a/c?
He also tells me that not getting it stamped will NOT affect its warranty?

Aircon is a dealer fit option (done by coolair) and you will find that the only service it needs is at 2 yr intervals (vacuumed and regassed to clean the system out) it doesn cost too much thou, around 60-70 quid id say.

The full story as I understand it...
For UK supplied turbos, air-con has always been a dealer fit option. Pre MY00, a Subaru system, made in Japan, was fitted and no extra service book was needed. For the MY00 the dealers in the UK fitted a different British made (=worse) system supplied by Coolair. If you get it serviced every year Coolair then guarantee it to work properly for the next 12 months ie there is an elemant of mechanical breakdown insurance too. You can keep doing this for 5 years. The main point is that as a dealer fitted item the system is covered by the manufacturer's 3 year warranty on the car anyway. The service is expensive and I was recommended 'off the record' not to bother by a local Subaru dealer.

Carl- UK MY00 aircon is made by Coolair and comes with its own service book which appears to need stamping at 12 month intervals by a Coolair approved service engineer - hence the above question.
