Some people are so dumb
Since I've had my Scoob, there have been a few admirers of the car.
I had young lad in an Escort Cabriolet come up to me in a petrol station today and ask how much the car's running... I replied about 225bhp as it's standard. His reply was "is that it? I thought these cars have 300+!"
Last week had a guy ask me the what the top end was, which I replied about 140, to which he replied... "is that it? aint that fast then! I can do 133 in my Golf!"
Anyone else get stupid comments like these?

All the time. People feel the need to say something (anything) on times. You can either be someone who just ignores it or make a bit point of putting the record straight, personally I just say nothing.

'No mate P1's were the classic shape'
'Ah ye, sorry. P2-nice cars'

There's abit of a car~war thing @ work.
One of my m8's had a 911 and another one bought a Hyundai Coupe(about 4 years ago),the owner of the Hyundai indicated that he believed his Hyundai would see off the 911,which aroused many a smile, alas he never tried to prove it..
Then a few months later another friend challenged the Hyundai owner to put up his Pink slip against, wait for it......a.....R...o...v...e...r ZT(I think)...,he declined.
So his line of thinking is that his Hyundai would beat a 911,but not a Rover, which would mean the Rover is a Porsche eater.....
The Hyundai owner has now got a newer coupe,if we ever get into a discussion he avoids the power, speed, etc and just brags that his car is 2 months old...as long as he gets his curlers and drier in there eh.....
P.s why do non-scooby owners delight in telling you the shortfalls compared to another model...why are they so knowledgeable...***...

well considering that a cossie BLOCK sells from 800 quid and the head for around 350 quid ,,,,, show me a cossie worth 500 quid thats on the road as they sell for 3k for a wreck to 7k for a above average condition one
they do tend to have rust issues though,,,,,,, reason why i bought a scoobie and not another cossie i guess

Bloke comes into work i know, with his mark 3 Golf GTi outside...."Still got the scooby then m8". "yeah still got it at the moment"............."Oh right whats the top end on it then"..........Dunno M8 never tried finding out, according to my mapping print out it'll top 160, but not interested in finding out on the public roads, i fancy keeping my license"........"Oh!! Why not!!! I've had 160Mph out of my Golf"............Me acting soooooo very impressed......"oh right never realised a Mk3 GTi would top 140??"............."F#cking right it will!!! Beaten 911s Evos & Scoobys in it, it's REALLY FAST!!!"

Had a few daft questions like those above - it seems like everyone has a 'mate' who has an Impreza that is tuned to 800bhp and will do 200mph. ( I did once get a deilvery driver telling me that his tuned 200SX had done over 200mph on the motorway, and then he backed off as he didnt want to damage the engine ! ).
If anyone asks how many bhp it has now, I tell them 4 - one for each wheel, and if they ask how fast it goes say 'enough'

A lad at work picked up a Fiesta ST at around the same time I collected MY00 classic, so he tried playing top trumps. I beat him on the BHP - 230 to his 140, but he was addimant that his would still be quicker to 60 than mine due to it being lighter!
Apparently the salesman had told him it would do 0-60 in 6.9 seconds. A little research on my behalf gave me great pleasure in telling him it was actually 7.9! His face was priceless!!!

Random Bloke in Petrol Station '' What BHP is this then'' ''215 as standard'' ''Oh Alright(Sniggers and walks back to baby blue 318)''
''He says his 2.0 Litre Corsa would dick you, especially as you don't know how to use a turbo''
''His Skyline (2.5 NA) would be so much faster than this''
I just laugh right in peoples faces now when they start talking rubbish. Little do they know...
