Default Impreza Servicing Intervals - 2003 Model

Hi,

am just about to part with some cash for a 2003 WRX.

Looking through the service book it looks like the service was due at 24000 and the car has done 26000. So I managed to get quite a few quid off for this lapse in servicing.

I personally don't feel too uncomfortable about this. I'm going to get the car serviced before I even drive it.

One thing that confuses me however, is that in other posts I've seen the service intervals being at 20000 and 30000, not 24000. What's the explanation?

Additionally, if anyone can recommend a good value service centre in my area (Oxford) I'd be very grateful.

OK,

So looking here: Roger Clark Motorsport - Subaru Impreza Service Schedule

I see that the service thats overdue is the 'A' service.

Looking here: http://www.grahamgoode.com/Subaru-Shed.pdf

It doesn't mention the 'A' service being at 24k miles.

Can anyone tell me how much I should expect to get this service for?

Cheers in advance.

03 WRX service interval is 10,000 miles.
RCM do their own interval as do many other garages.
I use RCM, but still use the 10k service interval.
So actually, it should have been done at 20k, and the next is due at 30k miles

If it's a 2003 the service due is the 5 year or 50000 miles, it's the one where the cambelt is changed and bloody expensive, just had mine done 2 days ago..

As above, Norman has a valid point there. Your 5 years 'are up' and so he is correct in saying the cambelt service is due.
I forgot about the time also, i do that many miles i dont have to worry about the years! LOL.
Currently on 75k miles and counting, Ha.

Mine cost £385 with tensioner, that was from a specialist, not sure about a dealer but would have thought a lot more.

£385 isn't too bad. What I may do is have a minor service now (or the 24k one) and wait till the tail end of this year to get the major one done since the car was registered late 03.

Anyone see a problem with this logic?

Any anyone know of a good specialist in the Oxford area?

Thumbs down

TBH this sounds like the car has an iffy service history. To say the least it's a little sketchy. 2000miles is a lot over and this could be 6k if it should have been done a 20k. Do you know how many services the cars had in it's lifetime (receipts/invoices etc, not just service stamps..!)..?

There are LOADS of good cars out there with masses of FSH/providence etc that are ridiculously low priced, due to the current market climate..
I'd walk away and find another with more history..!

It's had all previous done by official Subaru service centres, but this guy brought it a while back and just got lazy.

Last one was done at 16k.

I got it for a decent price. It's literally spotless inside and out, I thought I was getting into a new car, at worst if you go by the 10k rule it's not even overdue a service.......

Besides which I've layed down a deposit!

dont panic about the service history now, most services are only an oil change so get it changed asap and it will be fine upto the 30k service,I wouldnt bother with the dealer service if its gone out of warranty although the fdsh is nice to have but it will make little or no difference to the value when you come to sell it.I paid £460 for my 30k service at a subaru dealer when i had my 03wrx..rip off

Cheers for putting my mind at rest, and thanks to everyone else who's posted.

The guy who is selling it to me has been explicitly honest about everything as far as I can tell, even pointing out a mark on the wing that even I struggled to see.

Before I drive it anywhere I'll get the next service done.

Cheers all.

With such low mileage he's probably been servicing every year, so mileage won't match service intervals. As said, get one done ASAP by a good Subaru independent who'll also give it the once over for peace of mind..
