Default Can i bypass the header tank

My Header tank split last night where the pipe connects to the radiator and has left my scoob stranded in the middle of nowhere if i re fill and bleed the system could i connect both pipes together as a stop car to get home obviously the overflow pipe on the header tank is there for a reason but surely as long as i dont overfill i should be okay ?

You cannot drive your car with a snapped pipe on the header tank as it will be open to the atmosphere, the cooling system will not pressurise & this will cause the coolant to boil.

The cooling system is pressurized to a specific pressure, which is controlled by the header tank cap, so if you bypass the header tank, the system will over pressurize and either, blow the pipes off or burst them.

If you partially bypass the tank you will end up with the tank not sealed because you have a broken union on it and the consequences of this will be the cooling system boiling its water and causing damage to your engine.
