That was close....
I regularly drive my scoob to the empty. Never been a problem and on many occasions I have been past the point of the fuel light by quite a few miles. The reserve tank gives me about 20 odd miles after the light comes on.
Normal shell station was closed for renovations so had to drive a few extra miles to the nearest BP. Pulled in and filled up.
Now the classic tank holds 55 litres
I managed to squeeze in.................. 54.6 litres
That could have been embarrassing
Anyone else regularly drive on empty ?

Afraid I often drive well past the empty many a time in my Type R, trying to get to the next Shell garage!
Start short-shifting and down to cruise mode. I've gone 20+ miles past the yellow petrol light coming on more than once...
Gonna get caught out soon...

Seconded!
Driving to empty is perfectly fine. I run mine to the light but i know where the garage is and i've never tested to see how far it will go when it comes on!

I certainly wouldn't drive it with fuel that low for fear of sucking up all the crap at bottom of tank. Done it before in my mr2 and it seriously clogged up my fuel filter.

I know. I'm funny like that though; I won't even buy a fresh pint of milk until the old one has been completely drained etc...
Guess I should apply a different school of logic to my Type R Scoob though...

At the rate fuel is going up at the moment, 3p per litre in the last couple of days
your better off filling up sooner rather than later
