Without being nosey, what mortgage company is it?
Have you tried the Virgin One account, they are very good and keen to get new customers on board.
Might be worth a try, if you haven't already!

Good luck

Assuming your house is worth more than £50K and you have some equity in it, then why not consider a Virgin One account.

Pulsar GTiR?

Early Evo?

....and yes - Celica GT4 - very nice car.

These are the closest to the Scoob IMHO.

Bravo...

That amount will easily get you a mint Legacy Turbo saloon, probably with some tasty mods on it too. Insurance should be cheaper than a Scoob, etc.

Same go, Same noise, just slightly boxier looking!

PS. I went out on a limb for my scoob, and in hindsight I could have spent 1/4 on a great Legacy and been just as happy.

Bravo,
Not wishing to harp on about the Virgin One account, but if you was to apply now it would be sorted in about 3 weeks.
They are ultra quick and everything is done either over the phone or by E mail.
You could quite easily save some money aswell.

P.S I'm not employed by said company or the Royal Bank of Scotland and have no commercial interest........blah blah blah

I was in a 5 year fixed rate thingy with big redemtion penalty's but it was still worth while changing.
It's very awkward to explain here but their web site explains in very good detail on how you can save money and pay off your mortgage quicker.
Check out the web site and do the little examples they give and if you're impressed then give them a call and they can give you an answer over the phone (subject to survey), the conversation takes about 30 mins.
We changed about 8 months ago and we a set to pay off our mortgage 5 years earlier than normal and they don't mind if you borrow a bit more to buy a silly 4wd jap mobile
If you borrow a bit more for the car, then your only paying a very small % rate for a car loan.

I can appreciate your dissapointment but at the risk of sounding like a sanctimonious tw*t why pay for a car on a mortgage (have I missed the point somewhere ?)

I know that owning an Impreza is important but to pay for one on a mortgage is plain mental, say you pay 12k for the car, putting 6k on the mortgage would cost you about 3 times that in the long run (dependant on term), the car will last a few years but you will be paying for it full term !

You have to buy a house on a mortgage and it makes sense but cars, not a good idea.

I am saving up for my next car, I paid cash for my T5 and in the meantime I use a £250 Pug 309 to get to work.

Anyway lecture over, hope you get it sorted and I am now concerned that I sound like my dad !

I was tempted to borrow some money from the equity in my house in order to buy a car, after carefull consideration I decided against it.
My car would last 6-7 years if I was lucky, my mortgage has 18 years left! not good.
I decided upon a 5 year loan from www.northernrock.co.uk instead, much better solution.
Good luck

Thumbs up

With Virgin you only pay the same % as your mortgage + you pay it back as Quickly as you like, so the money borrowed for the car is more like a cheap rate flexible bankloan

Bravo 2, you seem like a reasonable bloke !

I was worried that you might take that post the wrong way, its just I have seen one of my mates get himself deep in financial sh*t and end up on anti depressants, but then again he is a bit of an ****.

Anyway for 6K you can get a Corrado VR6 which is one top motor, also a Fiat 20v Coupe Turbo is coming into your budget, incidentally the Fiat is quicker to 100 than a standard Scoob, on paper and on the road (I have seen it done)

Let the flames commence........

Hi Bravo

Just to add my 2 penneth. Last year I remortgaged my house with a Virgin One account which I think is excellent by the way! I did have an MGF which I sold in summer to buy my ex out of the house (its a long story!) and I bought a good old Mk2 Golf GTI 16v (for sale if anyone's interested!) as a "put me on". By November though I was hankering after a new car and started looking around, I looked at GT4's, Corrado VR6's etc etc but couldn't find a decent one even though my budget was going up and up.

In the end I decided to go for the car I really wanted and buy a Scooby! As luck would have it there were 4 in Autotrader that suited me (5 door, sub £6.5k) and I bought a 94-M, 100k, immaculate, FSSH 2 owner car for £5.5k in December. So far (touch wood!) I've had no problems at all in the 4k miles I've done and have just had the cost of a service and new front pads.

As you can probably tell, I'm impressed :-)))

Hey POC, dont be so quick to knock the GT4! yeah they may be a bit heavy but thats because they're built like tanks, and Ive never heard of anyone with a GT4 complain about piston slap, No.3 piston, clutch judder or stone chipping! plus they'll handle upto 350 bhp without having to go internal...or BANG!, and the WRC comes with antilag and waterspray as standard (admittedly not active tho )...and guess what Ive got 2
