Arron - the Prodrive ones are arriving sometime in the next few weeks apparently, well the first batch... some of the standard ones have already arrived at the dealers, I know a doctor got his from B&C recently.

The first Prodrive cars are arriving in dealers this week. One arrived in Aberdeen yesterday afternoon, and it's owner if picking it up on Friday.

Standard ones have been around for about 2 - 3 weeks now, although I believe there are no standard ones left now for sale unless you want to wait for the next batch, which will be around June/July. There are still some Prodrive style ones (lots more of these were ordered) available for March delivery.

Arron,

Had an MY98 Silver 4 door turbo before the STi.

Big step up in terms of handling, already put comments in another couple of threads, straight line performance somewhat better also.

Need to get the car run in properly before I can get a full impression of its capabilities, but it looks pretty good so far !!

Collected mine last Saturday.
Already done 500 miles.
Fitted full S/S exhaust inc uppipe ,Eibach springs, heavy duty rear antiroll bar Samco pipes and having latest Unichip fitted next week.
All courtesy of Litchfield Imports and Powerstation.
Still have MY00 and the difference is incredible.
The car feel solid as a rock and the cornering is another level over last car.
By Friday wil have covered 1000 so after oil change will be able to let rip.

Grant, question, why on earth did you fit the Eibachs? I got my STi 10 days ago, and the handling is incredible, the balance between comfort and ride stiffness is perfect. I would not even think of toying with the suspension.
When did Eibach make STI bits? The car just came out, with inverted struts.

Have had mine for about a week. Agree with Grant on the handling. It feels a lot stiffer than my RB5 (Had a MY98 before that) but at the same time is less jarring. Don't know about performance (500 miles to go!). Definitely not the same low rev pick up, don't know whether this is it being new, cats etc. Am going to wait for some of you mad early adopters to find out how to get the Japanese performance back. Will just make a few small changes before then.
Thanks to Rum (Schofields) for sorting out the insurance. Had been with Bell Direct who have provided me with good service and excellent rates, but who insist the Type UK is a grey import!

Good points PMAWS.

If you haven't sorted your STi insurance out yet, SPEAK TO RUM (Tom at Schofields Insurance) TODAY.

Our Rum'ster has been busy with his quill and big books and has sorted out a special scheme for STi UK owners. He even throws in a years membership of the SIDC

Boxer,
The Eibachs give a lower ride hight which in my humble opinion looks alot better as the wheels dont't have such a big gap above them.
The fact that the struts are inverted makes no difference.

Paul try a de-cat system and the car pulls a lot better low down, but I do agree that its not the same as my old MYOO but once it gets going above 4000rpm it really flies.

Has anyone tried the Sti before and after exhaust mods, and what difference did it make. I believe as standard it has three cats which must stangle it especially at the top end.
PS. I moved to Schofield's when I had the P1 and will stay when the Sti arrives 1/03 as they are the best I have come across!

Arron,

Picked up my STI today. It is my third Scooby - first a MY98 5-door with no mods, second a MY00 4-door with everything Prodrive could slap in/on it. Ran them for 2 years each.

Everything is a bit tight on the STI at the moment to comment on performance, but the handling is way better than even my MY00 with Bilstein/Eibach's from Prodrive. Gear changing is slicker than the PD quick-shift and the seats are way more comfortable.

Give it a couple of weeks (at the rate I eat up miles, maybe sooner) and I'll let you know what I think of the performance as it slackens up.

The wife likes the looks (has big spoiler) and I'm trying to work out if that is good or bad...

Ken
