ive had it all apart and greased it up, and i removed a dump valve prior to fitting this one so shouldnt be a pipework problem

it just sorta chatters... no dump ?

If you look on the forge web site it gives the spring relief pressures by colour. Red is the strongest then I think blue. If the valve doesnt dump the spring is to strong and the valve wont open so you have to go down a grade i.e if you have a red spring and it doesnt dump go to a blue if it still doesnt dump go to the next one. Forge do a kit with 4 springs and some shims for around 12 quid

Have you tried opening closing the dump valve with your hands to check the spring tention?
