Trip Computer?
Just use your fuel tank to judge the MPG. Either light on or marker. Fill up, note litres, reset clock, when get to that point you can calculate your MPG.
More reliable and accurate than a trip computer.

I favour filling the tank up to the top, resetting odometer, driving a distance (usually until the tank needs filling up, but not required), filling the tank up to the top again and that gives you the actual volume of petrol used over the mileage reading from the odometer

I asked the very same question when I purchased mine! The answer I got was....Do you think Subaru would be stupid enough to put an MPG counter on the trip computer!?! How very true
