what is the general opinion of cheap front mount intercoolers like this one

I have no idea if it was the same one as in your link, but I have seen an 'ebay special' being fitted in the garage that I use. I was considering buying a similar budget one fom ebay but after talking to the mechanic, the hassle,extra work and parts needed to fit it far outweighed any financial savings from the initial purchase.

Generally 'Hybrid' coolers get a good write up on here , like I said though, I do not know if the particular brand linked will result in any fitting issues.

ebay intercoolers tend to be ppor quality and not worth money, and in some cases worse than the standard ones. unless its a named brand such as HKS, or hyperflow etc i'd not bother

Go for the Hybrid, proven u to 700bhp, well liked by the mappers and relatively easy to fit. £299

Getting a cheapo one could cost you much more in the long term; some aren't fit for purpose and are absolute pigs to fit, so much bigger fitting costs.
