Blueprinted (though not to race standards) means that the tolerences are reduced making it a more accurate part, ie if the tolerence was 1 inch normally for this it could be .25 of an inch (just a higher standard).
You wont achive 400bhp on the VF42, around 380 is possible, just pop back and give Iain Litchfield a shout, they do a 400+ kit for the JDM cars

Truth is, that at 360bhp it will give a "normal" STi with 400bhp a run for its money (it should still be quicker )
Speak to Gussy, his 06 RA has had the 400bhp pack done by Powerstation

To get 420bhp IIRC they space up inlet mainfold, to get larger inlet pipe to Turbo. replace injectors and Turbo so not a cheap job, near £4K

But as Tony says 380bhp aint bad

Will be interesting to see what you do achieve Gordy. Went to see my RA-R in the flesh yesterday. Iain is sending it to be SVA'd sometime later this week. I'm going the FMIC route with my car along with a few other mods so it'll be nice to see what we both achieve.

Not that I'm chasing a headline figure. Driveability is more important to me.

Someone mention my name the 400+ kit is Ideal for my needs which I have said before for my trackdays and spirited B road driving Tony(T5NYW)is correct on the speck but at the time it came in well below 4k the car already had most off the bits on it when I bought it,just needed the hybrid twinscroll/injectors and extra mapping its all down to drivability you can go chasing figures for bragging rights but its how it preforms on the road/track where it really matters and I do belive that powerstation have a good all round package in this kit.Liam I might be down at litchfields in a couple off weeks time so if your cars down there I will have a little peek.

I just had one of the S204's mapped but am not going to say what the outcome was as they still need to finish it off. All in all i would say that out the box these cars are more or less perfect.

Not really.

Lets say nominal bore to piston clearance is 0.035mm (about a thou and 4 tenths for the older guys out there)

Bore diameter may have a tolerance of +\- 0.010mm, piston may have a tolerance of +/-0.015mm - so if you put a bottom limit piston in a top limit cylinder you could well have a bore to piston clearance that is 0.012mm over nominal.

The parts are not specially manufactured to tighter tolerances as you suggest, it's just that they are carefully measured and selected (as opposed to just taken out of a parts bin and built) before building. In a supposedly blueprinted production engine, they would probably look at shell clearances as well.

Advantages are a small increase in power, potentially a longer lasting engine, but in a reality a factory blueprint as they suggest on the RA-R will make no difference.

Fully blueprinting an engine is a different animal (you cant practically do this in a production enviroment as it takes hours and hours - depending on the engine i can take 30-50 hours on a bike engine), and you can get very appreciable gains in power and longevity.
