Speedo up the swanny... help..
ok guys. on my 1998 uk classic (facelift dash) the speedo has packed up, it started by flickering about, then it stopped at 80, then 130, now its decided to go right round and stop on the wrong side of the needle rest
strange thing is, the mileage counter is still going..... so its not gearbox end, maybe something in the clocks gone wrong?
anyone experianced this before, know how to fix it?
if not will i have to change the clocks? but ow do i keep the original mileage??

Hi sarnyboy, I,ve got the same problem as you. I have changed the speedo head but the problem is still there with a different head.So I guess there must be a sensor or relay at fault, it,s got me scratching my head. Any help would be appreciated.

I had a similar problem with my MY99 WRX. I think the JDMs might be different from the UK models.
Does your circuit board look like this?:

There was a particular component that had failed on mine:

(I knew this because I broke it (on accident!))
Eventually, I found a replacement unit on eBay.com and swapped out the component - that way I keep my mileage reading.

no, my speedo head has got three WHITE plugs on the back, not the green ones on the base...
i am swapping for a set from a broken 1997 car (if its a white plug model...?) and then i know a man with a computer who is going to set my mileage back to the original 89k
