Wink 2003 blobeye wrx advice

hi all, considering buying a 2003 (53)pllate wrx, in his ad he has got the wrx with 280bhp, his mods are large topmount intercooler, full stainless magnex exhaust with 6" down pipes and an pipercross airflow system. can this power be achieved with that, just that i dont want to spend my money getting the car if its not.its a uk car.cheers

Not unless he's had it mapped it won't be.

Also if has hasn't mapped it he might have done some damage especially if that is a cold air induction kit he's fitted. plenty more out there, it would have to have original bits with it (like airbox) to even consider it.

I'd personally stay well clear unless he can tell you who mapped the car, and exactly what mods he has on it, and who has done the mods. The cold air induction sounds a bit chav to me and doesn't offer anything over the standard. Has he changed the up-pipe? because if he's running 280bhp with the original you'll need a new turbo before long.

Have a good look around at other cars and always ask for advice from the people here before you make your decision to buy. If I was buying a modded wrx then i'd like to see mapped by mocom, andy f, JGM or other quality mappers.

I personally doubt that it would make that power output without a re-map...

Mine made about +20 bhp before mapping and +75 bhp after ! (STI)

HTH

DunxC

P.S. CAI fitted due to FMIC and no problems except some in very heavy rain ! !
