Default Centre console, how do i remove it?

Hey guys, just bought a 2003 bugeye with a single din headunit. I want to remove the whole fascia, even the bit that surrounds the heater controls.

Where do i start?

Thanks

this is a guide i followed, ehgp publishing ltd private pages

like the guide i didn't dis-connect the heater wires but there's plenty of slack to get the headunit in and out

loads of info here https://www.scoobynet.com/ice-2/2985...e-posting.html

As above, I did this not that long ago to put a Forester pocket in below my single DIN stereo. It's a bit nerve-wracking getting the surround off, worrying you're going to crack something... As hoksib says, you don't need to remove the wires.

Thanks for the links but the first link is a different console to mine, although the procedure might be the same i just want to make sure before attempting it?????

My console has a cup holder above it, if that helps.

Pull out the cup holder and it reveals a screw undo before you to pop the vents. Then its a case of carefully releasing the white clips to get the facia out. IIRC. Just be gentle.

There was a guide but it's not up anymore that I can find.

Thanks, ive seen the screws behind the cup holder. Theres also something next to the cup holder too.

Where are these white clips, at the top under the cup holder?

No they are around the facia, I think there are 4, 2 either side. Pop out the vents and get your hand in a release the left top of the facia gently and the clips should release and you will see. You can't get to the clips to release them so its a case of gently pulling unitl they give.

The cup holder comes out easily enough with a jiggle.

I used a thin screwdriver wrapped in electrical tape so as not to mark the facia to run down the side to pop the bottome ones.

Popped top left then bottom left, top right and the bottom right just lifted off.

New age WRX removal & install center panel & radio panel. - ScoobyMods

A how to guide for changing the HVAC and radio to red - Electrical & Lighting - NASIOC

Pretty much as explained, but shows clip locations. Also there are screws holding the Double din bracket to the dash.
