Default Worldwide sales stop on 2.5 Turbos

Subaru has started to recall the 2.5l New model WRX and STI here in Germany because of engine failure. In our club forums we know of atleast 3 brand new STi´s that have blown engines, 2 of these are Subaru Germany press cars that our club used last week at a meeting arranged by Subaru Deutschland. Both of these cars blew there engines at that meeting as we were in the middle of testing them

Not only these models are affected but also the 2.5 Turbo Foresters and Legacys.

Nasioc reports the same in the USA and now apparently the same is happening in Austrailia.

Big end failures, Subarus? Surely not!!

I hope its not some kind of generic fault though! The new model has enough problems without this!

I guess this knocks the 400bhp upgrade from Prodrive on the head....unless they're replacing the internals, that is!

Ahh, so its global now; good. As I thought they were only going to address the affected cars in the US and sod the rest of us!

Looks like a bad batch of bearing shells.

Considering its several layers of precious metals coated onto a steel backing; get the chemistry messed up they don't last five minutes: Think of them as like a cheap replica watch where the gold rubs off

Saw a new Sti today, women driving it....oh dear

I hope not mate, that would be like putting an band aid over a broken leg.

The map on a std road car will not be set up particularly agressively anyway, so having to slacken it off even more points to a materials problem that shouldn't be there. Sounds like a fault in manufacture to me.

It's not a double post; that link is for the statement for USA; it wasn't declared worldwide at that point, just US
