Sales stopped on new impreza,engine problem
just read this american sales have been stopped on 2008 and 2009 impreza and forester 2.5turbo models because of engine noises.
will this be the same for the uk

It sounds more like a quality issue, since these engines have been around for a few years and there have been no reported issues, it looks to be an issue at the factory.
Parts can be delivered from japan, or parts can be sourced locally, it depends on cost etc, but its cheaper to source parts and build in a factory near by in most cases.
No reported cases in europe, no reported cases in japan on the 2.5ltr cars, so i would say its just from one factory which would be why the vin numbers are all so close to each other (cars are built in batches etc)

Agreed. It will not be a case of the new engine being week. It will simply be a case of a bad or defective batch of parts from a particular supplier.
