New Impreza owner - what have I been missing !
#1
Morning all,
My first message - so please be kind !
Purchased the car b4 xmas - std UK model.
Prior to any simple mods i.e. exhaust / induction / brakes etc.
Ideally need to see / check-out and experience other owners
cars at a test track day out.
Spoke to a chap at Jap-Innovations in Oldham - whose involved
in organising events such as Oulton Park - waiting for the next
event to take place !!!
cheers

Max,
Welcome, although I'm not the best person for Track events etc. I trust that you are enjoying the new Scooby and that you will find Scoobynet as interesting and as topical as the thousands of other users here!

Hi UFO,
As you know, I,m new to this site and still amazed how much info / links available, lots to trawl.
Talking of the car - can't believe how good the power / traction is !
Had one scary moment - last week, powering out of tight left hander - plenty of oversteer - corrected it - then came a violent correction the other way. had a lucky let off !
Need a track day with plenty of room to find the limits and respect !!
cheers

Hi Ed
First thing I would do, is get some driving course such as the IAM one. Then go to one of the many rally/driving days that are run. The SIDC Prodrive live day, and the bill Gwyne Rally school are two that spring to mind. These will not only help make you a better road driver, but a faster driver on track. Everyone needs to improve, so please don't take it as me preaching.
The driver is the single most important part of the car, and is the only mod that can be carried from car to car.
When you do go on track, first thing to do is uprate the brakes. The standard ones will fade within 3-4 laps and you'll be lucky to see two trackdays out of the pads. Use the Banner ads at the top of the page to check out what's available from companies.
Also, don't skimp on trackday insurance or rely on your road cover. It may be optional but s0ds law says that the day you don't take out cover will be the day you clip a barrier.
Above all, take it easy, chill out and enjoy the car.
