Personally I'd compromise and go for 18" with 225/40. If you go with 19", then you'd need to run with 225/35 to give similar overall tyre diameter and with state of our roads you'd be shaken to bits!! Much better choice of tyres at 225/40 and much cheaper too. My opinion!

Don't do it unless you live outside London and have smooth roads... I have 19s on mine and lowered on Tein springs and can safely say that the rims have f***ed up the handling a fair bit, takes out the fun of driving it tbh can really feel the little bumps in the road.

Am now saving for some 18inch Rota D1s!!
I think 18s are the best compromise for a Scooby, performance and looks wise.
19s are purely for looks imo and it doesnt sound like your building a show car.
I say slap on some 18s and get some coilovers...would look much sweeter

I have a set, run them for a couple of years.
1. car doesn't take mid-corner bumps as well, I now have to drive it !
2. 235/35/19 tyres just scuff the rear arches, only just !
3. Wheels and tyres are more expensive, last set of boots £800 !
4. Overall stick to 18" to save money, or go for it, at least mine fill the arches.
5. Makes standard brakes look a bit "lost" in there....
