Default Tire pressure question

I've got the standard 215 45 r17 and I went on a tire site to find the correct pressure. It says 31psi front 29 psi rear which I have on my car now. I noticed on a couple of threads that people are putting much higher pressures in front and back. Does it vary from tire to tire or is there a standard for everyday use.

Look at the tyres when they are removed and adjust the pressures accordingly. (Worn middle = running high, so lower pressure. Worn edges = running soft, so raise pressure.)

I am currently running 33psi front and 34psi rear on Goodyear Eagle F1s, which works for me.

Thanks for your reply. Just curious why you have higher pressure in the backs than the fronts?

Agree with what speedking says.

I'm a bit heavy on my outside edges. I do love roundabouts.

So I run a couple of psi over the book figure to protect the edges.

Check your tyres regularly & adjust them according to what you see. Keep your tracking spot on as well or it will cost you dear in excessive tyre wear.

You can also swap front to rear to keep the tyre wear even. It means 4 new tyres in one go but better than running 2 new & 2 part worn. IMHO.

Thanks Mark. Do you run higher pressure at the rear as well? The tires seem to be wearing ok at the moment. Just thought that a little outside wear was normal wear on tires. Maybe I will increase to 33 f 34 r. Would this give me better wear?

No i'm running 34 front & 34 rear which suits my set up which is :-

225 40 R18 Toyo Proxes T1-R & Leda suspension with alloy drop links & 22mm adjustable rear anti roll bar.

My tyre wear is nice & even with both fronts 7mm & both rears 8mm. The wear is even across the tread as well with no high or low spots. Each car & driving style will need slightly different pressures though.
