I use Mobil 1 15/50 fully synthetic since my engine has been rebuilt, tuned and as a result is running more boost. This oil was recommended by the subaru specialist who rebuilt the engine.
I think Subaru recommend 10/40 synthetic for the standard engine, if in doubt ring your local Subaru dealer.

Thats how much you value your engine?!! For god sakes mate put something tidy Branded in, don't scrimp on oil. Listen to Mr Lewis on the rating but use quality oil. If the Subaru engine bites back it'll cost you a fortune!
As for Mobil 1 15/50 fully synthetic...thick as treacle it ain't.
Recommended by professionals, not know it alls.
