Default If people had a choice

As above. If you had a choice between on fq300 evo 8 or an 03/04sti ppp which honestly would you buy?. Taking into account running costs, etc etc.

Regards Dan.

EVO servicing is about every 6K. Stealers are know to be a bit hmmmmmmmm, worse than Subaru.

Have a look on the MLR Register for in depth stuff.

Will do. To be honest a lad i work with was at mitsi for twelve years so servicing etc isnt a problem. Its sad i know but if i make the move im worried i will miss the impreza. And its a lot of money to risk if you what i mean.

No mate I haven't sorry, I missed out on an EVO7 a few years ago and since then I have had 53WRX, MY06 STI and Classic STi. Would be an easy choice for me against the MY03 STi, having owned 3 scoobs I would want to try something else.

Also, the EVO has aged better than the blobeyes IMHO.

After my 03 STI I intended to buy an Evo VIII FQ model. I travelled to various places to look at cars but really struggled to find a decent used car with nothing dodgy/wrong about it. Also, they were nearly all silver, which I really didn't want. I ended up buying another STI (this time with PPP) and haven't regretted it. Having said that, I still fancy an Evo though I think the IX is nicer looking than the VIII.

I realise that this rambling post isn't much help to you, sorry!

Couldn't agree more, from the dealer forecourt pound for pound the STi package wins on being the better car for the money.

Appreciate the advice guys. Maybe stick to what you know. Do you think there would be much difference in performance?

I recently had to make a similar choice and went for the Evo.

If it was a JDM STi against an Evo, then that would have been a bit more difficult.

I think the 03/04 suffers because for a few dollars more you get the wider track of the 05s and the diff fiddle.

EVO out of those or an 05 STI

I still fancy an EVO myself, but with the STi as it is, it would have to be a special evo to make me swap keys. Maybe one day...

if money wasnt an issue and if the car was standard i agree with 53wrx

but since thats not the case then id have the sti with some careful light modding, u can get a better results than the evo

Having owned 2 scoobys(classic and a 320bhp blobeye) and 2 Evo's(360bhp Evo VII and a Evo 6 RSX) Id personally go for the STi out of those 2 cars you have mentioned. A Evo FQ300 isnt exactly the top of the range model and if you have never been in a Evo and you listen to most people who seem to think that Evo's are the bees knees then you will be dissopointed as it will not be any better then a STi PPP. Only plus side to the Evo is that there not as common as the scooby.

My last 2 cars have been Evo's and after selling my Evo 6 RSX not long back, I fancy a move back to scooby ownership as I have really missed it.

I was making a similar choice and went for the scoob purely on 10k services Vs 5K services .... but then I do high miles so kind of no brainer !!

Try them both, see if you can get a 12/24 hr test drive, different animals and will suit different styles/people.

re servicing - how many miles do you do per annum, is it going to be much of an issue.
the 'minors' on a evo are only ayc oil & filter &engine oil/filters, so not a difficult job, even diy???

Thanks again for all advice. Might take the evo out and compare, although my heart is saying sti.
