Equal length headers
Hi. I am lookin at buying an impreza type r an it has equal length headers on, could u tell me the advantages an disadvantages of them. like dose if effect the flat four sound?

Yep, equal length = NO rumble.....!!
Should make for a slightly smoother engine though, and in theory slightly more power if mapped accordingly, but if it were me, i'd have ported cast headers to retain the rumble!! oh, thats what i have got, silly me!!

There are no disadvantages with regards to equal length headers. They make more power aand are far more efficient in terms of flow. Who cares about the flat four rumble? The fact that the sound is there indicates a restriction, plus the exhaust pulses 'collide' with each other reducing efficiency.

They are more likely to be less un-equal length headers, so half and half, loose a bit of burble gain loads of mid-range performance....
