Question Car Seat fitment - just checking...

Hi.

I'm picking up my first Scooby later in the week - a version 4 Type R.

I'll be needing to fit a car seat (9 months to 4 years size) for my son.

It is a seatbelt held (not isofix) seat and supposedly pretty much universal in fitment.

Just checking that there is nothing strange about a scooby rear seats and that no one has had any problems fitting one etc...

Thanks,

Mark.

(Looking forward to picking up my Type R)

Due to the angle of the rear seat i had problems fitting a seat.

this is what i fitted, after various places tried my car for fitment.

there is nothing remotely odd about classic back seats for car seat fitting. Place it in and strap it down with seat belt..job done

Thanks for this guys...

Lee: I'm sure the one I've just ordered (foolishly before I 'ordered' the Type R) is a Britax Evolva...

From what i remember we tried around 6 different seats in the back of my scoob, the one i listed above is the only one this particular store stocked which would fit safely in the rear seat.(this was due to the angle of the base of the rear seat, they would not fit tight enough)
I am not saying this is the only seat that fits.
I would never have a ' any seat will do' attitude.

yes it is the evolva 1-2-3 i have.

I have been using a Bebe Confort Iseos TT seat (9mnth-4yr) for 2.5yrs and is not a problem apart from being bulky. Once your kids legs get longer you find feet in your back if you have long legs like me This is only a comment for Newage though as I have no experience of Classics.

PS. If you have Isofix I highly recommend the Jane F1 Indy seat as your next step (3yr-12yr). Fits well, looks good, doesn't need the belt buckled to stay in one place when the child is not in it, transforms into just a booster when they get bigger....list goes on.

Thanks for the additional feedback guys.

I don't know if the Type R has isofix or not, but I won't be going down that route anyway as I've recently lashed out for an expensive one for the family Golf. My son will not be travelling often in the Scoob anyway...

I am worried about the length of the buckles and getting 'buckle-crunch' though - this is what I'm hoping won't be the case.

I'll be picking up the car tomorrow and will take car and seat back to Mothercare to test fitment. Hopefully they'll change it for another one if it doesn't fit safely...

Regards,

Mark.

You need to make sure the plastic buckle that the belt goes into, is clear of the metal of the seat.

If you take it to Mothercare, they will come out into the car park and check it for you.

It was a bit close on mine, but just OK. No problem with the angle of the seat or anything though.
