Default Does anyone know what this problem could be?

Hi,

I am looking at buying a 1999 T reg 2000 Subaru Impreza 4wd and it has a problem with tick over.

It starts at 1000 rpm and idles there then drops down to 300ish then back up to 1000 + sometimes stalling.

Has anyone experienced this before or got any ideas on what it can be?

Speak soon
Thanks in advance

That's a classic example of an air flow meter failure

Thumbs up

and can be confirmed by unplugging the Maf while the car is idling. If it idles perfectly then the MAF is shot - for a MY99/00 it's circa £80 to buy a new one from a dealer and 5 mins to install.

cany help with your problem mate but why buy a car with problems

walk away and go look at another, what i would be asking myself is the only problem or is there more which are hidden that he seller knows about! but cant hide the idling problem so has had to come clean.

the other thing i would ask myself is this must be a samll problem to fix why has the seller not sorted it b4 going to sell it, or is it something bigger that they have been told about and refuse to pay out for so they have decided to sell.

i mean no offense to whoever is selling the car but there are loads on the market i would go look at another
