Top Ten Shootout-(Alconbury)
#1
Hi all,
I posted this prior to Christmas so some of you will be aware already.
I have been asked to organise 10 good spec Subaru's to attend a comparison day at Alconbury Airfield (mid july)which is situated in Cambridgeshire.
The days format(although still to be finalised)goes like this-:
Fastest 1/2 mile Fwd/Rwd/4wd
Highest terminal speed for the above
Fastest lap(or speed) on circuit
And Car of the day awards in each class
Guests are allowed in competing cars, spectating is available details nearer the time.
There will be ten other marques there Skylines,Gti-r,RSoc,200 Plus club,Porsche,Vipers etc.
Cost at present is around £60 per car,but all things being equal with a couple of magazines on board cost to us should be negligible,(and no not max power before you ask!!)
More details will follow as time progresses.
Any interested parties please drop me a line with name and car spec and i'll get in touch as i get more info.
Kind Regards
Simon

Remember to tape up your headlights unless they are gonna sweep it first. Had the RPM rally car smash its lights from stones being kicked up in the summer. good laugh though!

further news for you all
currently the following are confirmed:
10 RS cossies of at least 400-515bhp or more
10 skylines, "least" spec on paper is one of 200+ members cars who won USC this year at 11.8s 119mph
10 RS turbos, best examples upt prob 300+bhp
10 200+ club cars( 3 quickest GTI-rs in country, Noble M12, TVR cebera, RX7, supra single turbo, 604bhp (wheels) Porsche GT1, plus a couple of others!
5 celica GT4s,and a 380bhp corrolla, more to come frm GT4 club
to be confirmed shortly
10 Evos via their club list
10 supras uto approx 500bhp+
10 dodge vipers TBC
and a few guest cars including possibly two sub 9s 1/4 milers and maybe a Maclaren F1.
there will be a website launch next week, with all the details etc etc.
spectating will be limited to a certain number for liability and crowd control on the day. competing cars will be allowed to bring passengers in etc, plus
each club will be given chance for some spectating tickets at a later date.
current cost per car is £70 each,i am hoping to bring that down slightly, however i am not willing to sell out the day for a magazine exclusive, as virtually all the mags are wanting to be there (and usually dont want to pay **** all!)
now looking at mag sponsorship for trophies/same from top tuners etc maybe for some prizes for best in each class.(fwd/rwd/4wd etc)
the day is almost certainly full so far with the invited clubs, all it needs now is for the scooby owners to select ten plus reserves that may represent you best.
format
1/2 mile head to head drag runs, a single lane 1.2mile top speed, and a seperate handling circuit for all day track action. this will hopefully have additionally single car timed runs or trap speeds as well.
this event is also going to be run each year, so people who dont get in this time may get a crack next time.
in addition, there will be a tv/video team there, with latest in car and external cameras, filming the day.
i havent officially launched the website or done any publicity as such, full details within a week, but that should be enough for now. its going to be an awesome gathering of top cars.
if a member from here wants to run a d base of poss spectators i would appreciate it, as numbers will unfortunately have to be limited per club

cheers simon, sorry about the abuse, but I was a little wasted last night and I tend to lose my interior monologue and just say what I feel at the time. If you could get me in then I would be grateful and not to mention happy! but if thats not possible then I will send you a mail about spectating.
