Where can I get a smaller numberplate from?
Hi all,
Looking to get a smaller than std size number plate, so I can mount it on the front bumper when I get the FMIC installed.
Anyone know where I can get one from?
Thanks in advance.

No. Police are clamping down on number plate ofences too due to misreads on ANPR systems . If it is a cherished transfer you also run the risk of losing that aswell.

What's been said regarding the legality of number plates is absolutely true and to get what is now called a 'show plate' you will have to pick an ad out of AutoTrader or the like. If you have good reason to do it and you're sensible about it you shouldn't have a problem. I have a smaller than standard (read 'legal') plate on my motorcycle because a full size one looked like a small dinner tray. But I wasn't stupid about it. From a distance it doesn't shout "Look at me, I'm tiny" and I haven't used stupid italics or tried to spell out some alien's name with it. If you don't rub their faces in it they have slightly bigger fish to fry.

as above so long as the numbers are the same size then why do you need an extra 6 inches all round use you head dont use tiny letters and be carefull on the gaps also
my mate draws a alot of attention to himself
theses are standard size letters but not quite spaced correctly
i dont think the police care about that so much,as the HI **** seems to cause the most comments lol
plus with border not so much much white or yellow showing

Totally agree with the above, if it's 3/4 and you don't mess with letters, spacing, miss placed screw holes then you have less chance of being stopped, mine is as clear as any full size plate, however there are a few cars locally with black/silver plates and 8's turned into S's etc who are asking for trouble.
However if you have an import you can legally (from what I've been told and have read) go much smaller than 3/4, also if you have a short number then you can have a full height but shorter plate legally, all on the craigsplates website, quite useful.

I used Fancyplates, and went with 3/4 for the front but standard font, spacing etc. with Subaru swoosh.
Custom Number Plates - Reflective Acrylic Car Registration plates (UK and Ireland)
I asked a copper friend of mine to have a look and he didn't even realise it wasn't legal. So I'm going to stick with it, although I have my standard plate in the boot - which had just 'fallen off'

i've been told that as long as your rear plate is 100% correct and the front doesn't take the pi55 in size, then you'll normally at worst get a ticking off. it's the spacing they get the **** about, legible letters albeit smaller don't normally get the same reaction.
i've run 3/4 ish size on the front for about 5 years with no problem, swap at MOT time (first one today ), other than that, all been good.
had plenty of coppers look at it, but no-ones had a word yet

Mine passes its MOT with it on it just the coppers being a**holes, had it on for 3 years , even been pulled for spot checks and they never said a word about it

Had my ¾ size plate on for over a year now, never been stopped or had a problem with it, just don’t be silly with it and keep it clear.

I had mine from fancyplates about 3 yrs ago and never gad a problem. Although I completely forgot about it come MOT time..Doh..!
He let me off as I had the original at home and promised to put it on..
I actually measured the flat mount on the bumper and had one made to measure. My plate is a std 7 digit, so the characters are smaller, although std font..
Certainly helps cooling as it doesn't block half the grill like a std plate..!
