Default Back Box Joke

Rang my insurers, Endsliegh last week to declare my Prodrive Back Box. They just got back to me and said they wont allow it! The only option is to take it off or stump up £2300 quid on a brand new policy, As opposed to £1450 Its only a WRX and im 23 with 5 years NCB WTF?
Q everyone 'well you should of checked first'

Some insurance companies do not like mods at all, while others understand that some give no performance and some do and will adjust your premium accordingly. The insurers that advertise on here (some) are fairly understanding and charge a small admin fee for up to stage 1.(£30) Other companies will give you a silly figure as they arent interested in insuring modded cars.

Some will also put a high cost on possibly due to you being under 25...

Admiral would not entertain me modding the STi at all. Even at 30+.

No need to buy one, ask on here. People would swap for your PD one easily.

I couldn't even give my STi backbox away, it ended in the skip.

Greenlight was the same and Keith michaels said I had to of owned it a year. Ive had 6 months now an havent killed myself yet so maybe that counts for something, might give them another ring. Makes me laugh though when i upgraded the alarm, which is in there best interest they dint knock me any money off did they! All take no give!

Know what you mean.

I added the thatcham approved security film to the windows, they wanted an extra £50 for modifying it. That was the final straw. I went to APlan and never lOOked back.

I informed Privilege about my WR Sport backbox, similar to the Prodrive one - their line was if it doesn't increase BHP (which it doesn't) then it makes no difference to them.

Change insurance company, check in the Insurance forum for suggestions.

Keith Michaels have just come up trumps, they can match what i pay now with the BB declared! What a relief! Still gonna have to stump up the deposit again tho which is a pain as tax is due tomorow aswell! Ah the joys. Thanks guys.
Up Yours Endsliegh

Doesn't surprise me. These insurance companies reckon they make no profit out of car insurance. Yeah, right That's why they are on the TV advertising for new customers from dawn 'till dusk.

Meanwhile, they MASSIVELY overcharge young drivers, with the result that there are thousands out there with no insurance.

My eldest, driving two and half years, no claims, they refused him permission to put aftermarket alloys on his car.

Ridiculous!

It would appear this is the price of being honest in some insurers eyes. Obviously the alloys would make the car more attractive to thieves but there hardly gonna make your lad more likely to have an accident. Same with my Back Box.
