I dont know if this has been mentioned yet !

I have just received my renewal from Privilege, and have seen a notice that says all policies are being underwritten by Direct Line now, dont know if this will affect the way policies are dealt with, hope it doesnt though !

And yes i know its not in the insurance thread but i wanted max coverage just in case there are implications !!!!

Ian,
The two companies, Privilege and Direct Line, are now joined, but trading under different names.
At least thats what I was told by Privilege in September 2000, when making a claim against a lady insured by Direct Line.

Cheers MTR

I asked for a quote a few weeks ago from Privilege. Then I rang Direct line and they had me on their computer with the quote from Privilege so they didnt bother to quote me as it would be the same I was told.

cheers

When I renewed with Priv in October I was told that, although they'd always been sister companies, they were now using the same underwriting system for *new* policies.

However, as mine was an existing policy I was on the 'old' system, which appears to give better benefits on track day cover, although I'm still trying to chase this up in writing.

I was told that next Oct my policy my move over to the new system.

[NB - ATS Euromaster Insurance are basically re-selling Privilege but were £20 cheaper, although claimed that track day cover only allowed *1* (count them) car on the track at once!]

Just been through the same. Was told by priviledge that if you renew an existing policy then anything you've got on it would stay (i.e., masterdrive), but if it was for a new policy or you were a returning customer then you would be on the new system.
cheers

Question

When I got my first scoob Direct Line would not touch it as it had 'additions' and they said their sister company Privilege would.

Been with Privilege through RB5 and now P1. The only thing that's changed is the premium.

Direct Line is your more low risk driver, where as Privilege handle more high risk drivers.
