I currently own a 97(P) Turbo 2000 with 102k on the clock which I have completly maintaned and fully serviced and woz wondering if there woz any body else out there in a similar situation and what problems are to be looked out for, machanically etc. and how much longer can a engine or gear box last for?
Since I've owned it, it has only had minor things go wrong with it but thankfully never broke down i.e. split heat shield on turbo which vibrated annongly which I replaced. An interesting one, the colenoid connected somewhere or another packed in causing the car to lose complete power in the higher gears at a certain rev point which has been replaced and is pukka once again. And finally a split crank oil seal which I only noticed through my heater as oil was slowly leaking out onto the exhaust causing a rather nasty burning smell, the part woz only £5.00 but just don't ask about the labour cost.
Another annoying thing is the stones it seems to collect off the road that get caught under the heat shields, it doesn't bother me that much but it don't half make a rattly sound which made me completly paronoid at the time that something woz going to give and rushed up to my local dealer and woz told that it woz just simply stones!

Mine had only 75,000miles when I bought it last Feb...
no problems since then... looking through the history and at the car there seems to have not been any problems that show up anyway..

70K ticked over this week, watched the fiftys peeling off the back window
Not bad to say It just had its first MOT
Bought it at 57k @2.5yrs old

Me '92 Jap import at 110,000 km and I can't be bothered to convert it to miles. But she's still running pretty well and recently plastered a porsche boxter somewhere in Reading...

11000km is 68750miles so still a baby!
I am currently doing about 600miles a week and the miles are racking up...
Hoping to get enough money together to get my bike back on the road in early march.. don't mind miles on that but trying to keep the Scooby for as long as possible..

A bike? A friend of mine recently crashed his bike on Christmas. Come to think of it, the last time I rode a bike was when I was 18. I stopped because my friend killed himself on his bike right after visiting me.

Yeah bikes are not the most sensible mod of transport..
my wife is always moaning at me..
problems is I just love it... where else can you do 0-60 in 2.5seconds when you want? they are just so addictive... and the danger bit is all part of it..
The traffic these days is getting so bad that the bike allows me to get to work in a reasonable time.
I still say I'd rather have some fun and kill myself than keep myself wrapped in cotton wool and be bored...
I ride sensibly and just bought one of those stupid day glow jackets but hopefully I shall get seen...

I'm still itching to ride a bike again though. Unfortunately, I've got a 2 year old daughter and the last thing she wants is to lose her daddy. But yeah 0-60 in 2.5 seconds is still something that I love to do when I was 16. God to be young again....

I have a 15month old daughter and my riding has changed so much because of this. Thought about selling it...
I would be riding the bike now.. but currently doing 600miles a week and am waiting for the warmer, dry roads before riding it again.. plus it needs a rear tyre and a service...

When I have my sensible family head on then I think I won't ride it... no point selling it as it has done so many miles that it is not worth anything really.
Then I drive the car and get stuck in traffic and out comes the bike.
I even enjoy riding the bike at the speed limit more than driving the car fast..
Which Ninja? two mates have had Ninja's.. a 600 and a 900 C1.
I have had more accidents in cars than on bikes.. and probably done nearly as many miles, no perhaps not over there years probably double the miles in a car but had only one accident on a bike and errrmmm several in a car...

110K on 95M. No problems yet (except for a changed oil seal - sounds like it might have been the same one!), the clutch hasn't long to go...been saying that for ages though. FSH. No smoke or rattles particularly, though one of the heat shields did rust through. Bit of bent coathanger tied that down again!! Worst problem is small leak from the power steering reservoir, which seeps down the front of the engine and onto the exhaust and hence smells!. Have tried changing the O ring, but the leak seems to be from the joint in the two part reservoir...guess I will have to change it at some point.

Boot central locking failed due to broken cable in tailgate loom - sorted under extended warrantee
Leaky rocker-cover gasket (driver's side) - £50
Rear anti-roll bar links - £30 & fitted myself (!)
Maintained FSSH, coming up to 83K service (£96) THEN the BIG one in the summer (90K).... That will be about £750/800 might be time to say 'adios, amigo' and trade in for a newer mota....
Never had so much fun in a car!!!

111,000 on a 96 Sport Wagon. No real problems apart from a plate on the oil pump coming loose and depositing about 5 litres of finest fully synthetic over the M4 between London and Swansea.
Put 20,000 on it in the last 13 months.
Bike - got a GPZ500s, 1996 which I've been re-spraying and rebuilding over the winter, ready for the summer.....

my lovely jap import now has 133000km.
I've had very few problems, just the usual rattling heat shield and a new clutch (ap)...
Very reliable motoring especially given the performance

Now on a serious note, I don't have a scooby but I do have a Mreg '95 Diesel escort, which is currently sporting a cool 193000 miles and has just had to have a new gearbox and front wheel bearings, and front discs, and clutch and Sump oil seal, and crank shaft oil seal. Nearly a new car again!!!!

35000 miles in mine MY2000, 15 months old, seems to keep getting better do worry about the turbo tho as miles clock up.
do they blow often? always leave it to tick over when been running.

with all this in mind is it possible to replace an engine and gear box and how much does it cost - roughly like... and has anybody had it done?
is there anybody who lives in the norwich or norfolk area as i know absolutly no one with a scooby turbo to have a natter with?
