Help Please
I have my car on a battery conditioner, the other week I started the car after a couple of weeks not doing and it just about started.
Yesterday I tried starting it all the ignition ligts etc came on but the car wouldnt start It just 'ticked' very loudly without firing up. Does anyone have any ideas what it could be. It is still on the original battery which is probably about 6 years old ??

My guess is that the battery is knackered. It's not able to hold enough charge to start the car. 6 years is a typical lifespan: time for a new one methinks.

by the way which do you recommend. The one that was originally installed is tiny, possibly part of the weight saving policy used on this car, I havent seen one like it anywhere?

My original was a 48Ah, which I replaced with a 60Ah. A lot of people recommend a Bosch branded one from Halfords for about £75-80 with a long warranty. Can't remember the full details though; I'm sure someone will.

I always charge the car with the battery still connected up, and this is the first time I have experienced this problem
