normal, nothing to worry about - i'm sure most on here with import WRX are in a similar position

DVLA don't really know what they are as they were never UK type approved so the V5 info just gets selected as Impreza GL as this is the first thing on their list.

Note- you cannot insure it as a GL though !!! (the bloody great turbo is a bit of a give away to the claims assesor)

i no this isnt really too related, but a mate had a 106 rallye a while back, and when he went to insure it he told em the number plate, and they thort it was a 106 1.4 xn?

Also heard of some dealers (think we know who) registering them and other cars as lower spec or different model versions if they dont have the SVA reports for them, so they dont need to buy one

Most probably a DVLA mistake.

Sounds quite common- if it's 'not on the list' they often put it down as the nearest UK model. I bought a US import Dodge Caravan to drive to Ukraine last year - insured it but they didn't have the model in their computer so had to describe it as a van with seven seats... four doors, Dodge, 3 litre engine... the Indian call centre did it eventually although it took a very tedious hour on the phone.

everytime i ask my local main stealer for parts and give them the chassis number they come up with my car as a wrx, it is actually a wrx sti version 1 which was made from a wrx limited run, if main stealers cant get it right then i wouldnt expect the rac to be able to either, hope it turns out to be a nice car for ya though

Mine is still on as a GL after 5 years. Not much point trying to do anything about it.

My WRX came into the country and was registered as an 'IMPREZA GL'.

I wrote a covering letter to the DVLA a few years ago when I changed address and the V5 now states 'IMPREZA WRX'. Easy to change if it does bother you.
