Ok as your probably aware Im looking to buy myself a P1. My budget is £24-25K.

My question is regarding brake upgrades. Not that many of the P1's in my price range have the Prodrive Upgrade and if they do they are around the 20k mileage. So I want to know if its worth me getting a lower mileage & newer P1 (say sub 10k mileage) without the upgrade and then getting the brakes done myself later on? This leads me on to ask a) Is the Prodrive Upgrade the best brake upgrade for the P1 (keeping it in warranty and for the money), b) can I get this done (and keep the car under warranty) on a 2nd hand P1 or was it only an option when purchasing as new, c) how much would it cost - from what I see on here it is around the £1,500 mark and is it a visit prodrive job or can any subaru registered service dealer fit it for me?

Also some cars come with the Prodrive exhaust upgrade. What is this - just the backbox, back and middle or the entire system? Is it any good or am I better off looking at getting another system like a Magnex or the HKS Ti Hiper that POC just got - if its compatible with the P1 (as I like the look and sound of that)?

Don't forget AP - a lot of stuff on the forum about these kits which are very good.

The Prodrive upgrade is simply a different backbox. Personally I prefer the note of the scoobysport and it doesn't invalidate the warranty.

ps Don't forget my car Y 6k may be up for sale shortly around the £25k mark.

Cheers

fitting ap brakes is a good idea.

The main reason why I think so is because when you replace the discs, they separate from the bells so are £00 a time, whereas the alcons are £600 for a combined unit which is inseparable. Further to this the AP is cheaper, and to my knowledge the company has a better reputation.

I have driven cars now with both and in day to day drivings, both feel excellent and far better than the standardset up. They are both excellent on track too.

Warranty isnt an issue of you fit them after purchase. If you fit AP you only lose the warranty on the brakes, it doesnt affect anything else, but the APs come with their own warranty, so this is not a problem.

You are better off spending the money and getting a better car (not necessarily lower milage), becauseyou will spend lots on it once you have it anyway.

How much is the AP option compared to the Alcon/Prodrive Option.

Sounds tempting but is a bit more mileage than I was looking at. Plus too many mods for my insurance TBH. I think Im gonna have to get a standard P1 to pacify my insurance company - possibly a brake upgrade but thats about it.
