Default STI8 specs?

Im looking at a 2005 STI the person selling says that its higher spec than a pro drive packed UK STI because its from malta? Anyhow hes saying is 305bhp and close shift gearbox and better suspension. Ive never heard of this apart from the JDM spec sti which is better. Anyone know anything i dont?! (not hard!)

The EU (malta/cyrpus) cars are the same as UK cars, but actually have parts missing, like mats, locking wheel nuts & alarm.

They could not have the PPP (305ps) kit fitted without affecting warranty.

There are plenty of threads on: UK vs EU cars, try searching.

You might also want to find out "how it is better than a prodrive STi?"
- It might possibly be that he has had similar kit to the prodrive fitted and mapped independently, giving a custom map, not a generic one. ie. Giving better power and driveability.

heres what he said:

The car is a STI8 which gives it the close shift gearbox and 305bhp engine with the uprated suspension as standard on the STI8, In all this spec is higher than the pro drive pack subaru offered to uprate others, the plus point with the STI8 is that its all standard fitment.

Its a great car with great performance and still as new in every way.

im aware about the UK v's EURO differences i think a few miss out on alarm too? but its the STI8 bit i dont get... is he just bulling?

Sounds a bit like BS to me. Typical salesman waffle. 1st paragraph - yes STi has a close shift action, uprated suspension (over wrx models); 305 ps engine will be PPP. Not sure how his PPP is better than the PPP Subaru use??????????? PPP is not standard fitment on STi8 or any other STi, it is after-market.

You can fit a short shifter and prodrive springs on the car, from the dealer. They be the parts he's referring to.

Anyway, it's not even an STi8, no such thing. But everyone knows what they are.

He's either wrong or BS'ing you, to put it bluntly. The 2005 STI (which is what I have) has 265BHP as standard. PPP increases this to 305. The 'close shift gearbox' and 'uprated suspension' are just standard STI features, as opposed to the WRX. The bit about 'this spec being higher than the the pro drive pack Subaru offer' is just complete bollox.

As others have said, an EU import has a few minor bits missing and would be worth slightly less than a Type UK.
