USA Subaru Engines
As far as I'm aware, all Impreza engines are made by FHI in Japan, though they may have manufacturing plants elsewhere, I'm not totally sure on that part.
The confusion could be that the 911 uses a flat-six "boxer" engine, and the Impreza uses a flat-four "boxer" engine

The actual US market cars are built in Subaru of Indiana Automotive in Lafayette. This is also the only factory that make the new hatchback in the saloon style (which is why we'll never see RHD versions - not even Japan are getting them).
I don't know about the assembly of engines - I would presume they'd be shipped as components and assembled at SIA as well, rather than completed engines being shipped (which strikes me as a potential logistical nightmare).
As for being built by Porsche. US engines don't have turbos, they have special magical pixies that blow really hard
Like Markus said, maybe its just some confusion because the only other maker who uses a flat type engine is Porsche.
