I have made numerous posts about buying an Impreza but I am still torn between a sensible car like a Pug 206/306 or an Impreza Sport. The purchase cost of a decent Pug 206 is about £6500 with about 20,000 miles and a high mileage Sport is about £5000 with 105,000 miles (impreza_sports_nutter’s).
I know I won’t be happy until I get an Impreza and once I get the 206 I’ll only want to sell it and get an Impreza. If I sell the 206 1 year later I’ll lose loads in deprecation and I’ll still be paying for the 206 meaning that I will have to borrow more to get the Impreza that I so desire.
What I had planned to do was get a Pug 206 for a few years and save towards the Impreza but when I saw Impreza_sports_nutter’s car for sale for 5k it made me go over the whole thing again.
I have had this conversation with my girlfriend and she says that I should wait for a few years and get one later, but I don’t think I can wait.
I am only 20 so I know that insurance is not going to be the cheapest (I have a quote for £1700 fully comp) but I am prepared to pay the heavy insurance costs and running costs. I work in a well paid job in IT that’s about 5 minutes away from my house in which I live with my parents so I don’t have any huge monthly outgoings. My biggest outgoings are my savings account, rent and my pension all of which take less than 40% of my wages per month.
Come on guys and girls help me decide, what should I do. (You may have noticed my extremely biased towards the Impreza

If your in IT and you're good the pay will get better. The question to ask is do you want a turbo and if so how long can you wait, will the sport do in the mean time ?
Myself .... I'd good for the scooby anyday , just be individual.

You have to look at the pros - cons mate
Scooby SPORT nice - good price - high miles on the clock - high insurance
Not saying that the one you are looking at aint good - probably been well looked after.
Do you want to be paying £5000 for a car that has done over 100K ?
When you can get a good 2nd hand 206/306 for the same price, with half the miles !!
Got my self a Silver V reg SPORT last june - only had 12.5K on the clock - £10000
