Default How much longer will it last?

Have had Impreza's since 1998 and right now am driving my perfect car. Last of its kind classic STi 6. It was imported from new by Roger Clark and has had no expense spared. I bought it in 2006 when it had 30k miles on the clock. It now has just gone past the 80k mark . And have loved every mile. Have driven it hard on occasion (Scooby Shootout last year for instance), but its always been treated really well. Regular servicing and the slightest problem has always been fixed ASAP. It still pulls like a train and everything is just perfect.

But, this is the thing, I simply never see classic STis with original engines and 80k miles on the clock. Am I just lucky or are there others out there with this kind of mileage? Should I be expecting a rebuild soon or is it more likely to just keep going - bunny style?

I would always keep a little something aside in case the worst happens. That's not to suggest that your car is about to blow the engine but you never know. It's helluva milegae you've done in the time you've had it.

Yeah, lots of miles for work. Glad I'm not paying for the fuel.

Mines has just turned 92k and not missed a beat. Its a modded 98 Uk btw, but dont see any reason why the sti wont carry on running faultless. Like you say its well looked after so odds are in your favour.

I'd imagine the others have failed earlier than yours due to coming over here and running on poor petrol without a remap etc, causing lasting damage. But if yours has been mapped for UK fuel since day 1, then really it won't be anymore unreliable than any other car?

MY STI5 has 106K miles on the clock, imported new, and I drive it to work every day.

i have a version 1 sti wagon on it's original engine and other than consumables and the odd sensor here and there never had a problem, only done approx 55000 miles but dont see why it shouldnt go on for another 50000 miles without problems, tempting fate no doubt by saying this but i can hope.

108k now on my UK Classic on the original clutch, never any problems, only routine servicing and the usual consumable parts. I do around 300 miles a week and it's never missed a beat.
