Wink

Read a few articles about the latest Passat.

V8 engine, 4WD all for less that 30 grand. And you'd get that wonderful german build quality.

Incidentally can't see the 1 500 quid premium in the Prodrive STi. A few skirts and a big spolier. C'mon you should get more for your dosh than that!

According to several magazines I read the W8 is too soft to be even compared with an Audi A4 30 Qauttro so to a Scoob??
They also said the W8 engine doesn't deliver the goods because the gearing is just too long.
Not every AWD powerful car can be a Scoob rival.

And lets face it - Passats are even more ugly than the bug-eyes. Plus every other company car driver seems to have one these days.

Having spent the weekend driving a new Passat (1.8T) I agree its a completely different style of car. Its a cruiser great for motorways but far too soggy for press on driving.

Its true the W8 Passat isn't being marketted as a peformance saloon, as we have the brochures here to prove, they are after a long legged quick and comfy saloon.

But I would be careful against dismissing its performance, we are after all talking about a car with 275bhp and 272lb ft of torque. The manual is quoted with a 0-62mph of 6.5 secs, so look at about 6.3 for a 0-60 time, and 155 mph top speed.
