Depends on what you want a recommendation on? A particular manufacturer or just whether or not people think this is a good idea to do?

I have a MY05 WRX and I went for the easy method - swap the standard leather **** for a Momo one that sits right down on the gear shaft. This is as low as you could get one without cutting and welding the existing one. I find this made it much better and as it is lower down than the standard one, the throw feels shorter. I'm sure you get better results from a proper kit but that is more money and more involvement in fitting, etc. This may not work well if you have a lift up reverse though.

My 03 WRX had the Subaru one on when almost new. Didnt have long to think how it compares to be fair, but when i went out in RCM's loan classic the other month, i could tell the difference. LOL.
I prefer the short throw, although you still cannot change gear any quicker, you want the RA gearbox for that
Would i bother again? Actually, yes i would.

Fit it without the bushes first and see what you think, I did the lot and it is very stiff and whines a little now, think I'm gonna put original bushes back. It is usable and I have done so for a week or so but think it is a bit stiff for me, btw I didn't grease the new bushes and this might have helped, maybe
HTH

Let me know how you go on mate

Had one on MY05 and current MY06 WRX. Much better than standard gearchange, very fast and precise.

Wouldn't bother on an STi
