How about putting an STI spoiler on a WRX ?
Could the insurance company argue you have made the WRX more attractive to thieves by giving the impression its an STI.....
Anything to escape a payout and they will pounce.
IMO its always worth declaring no matter how minor you may think the mod is.
Nik.

You MUST inform the insurance company of ANY changes you make to the car, even if only cosmetic. Insurance policies are based on absolute disclosure; if you breech this, they are within their rights to refuse to pay out on a claim!
Probably won't have any impact on your premium with those mods, but they might wish to make a nominal increase. If they put it up significantly, take your business elsewhere!

Now that you've asked on here I'd say essential to let them know. You're already in doubt and if the insurance company were to check they may find this post.....Big Brother and all that..

Yeah i'm afraid you should tell them regardless of what you do.
If it aint standard they need to know.As mentioned, A-Plan are good for things like this.Might be worth remembering at renewal time.

When i had my 1st Impreza (WRX) i fitted a high level STI spoiler.
I informed my insurers at the time (Admiral) and the guy on the phone who was obviously in an 'overseas call centre' asked how much increase in engine power it gave. I had a hell of a job explaining to him that it was just a piece of plastic bolted to the boot lid
Nik.

Directline asked me if my front strut was like a wrap around bullbar thus changed the policy to Gary Moulson at Keith Michaels who didnt charge me any extra for my tints, exhaust, strut, dump valve, and sti spoiler on a wrx ..... think thats it even got the policy down by over £100 and the excess down by over £100 : .... and I forgot to renew... I should start a post shouldnt I....
