Which one ? - Impreza T2000 or Clio 172
#1
Hi,
went down to my local car supermarket and .....
I've personally got a Subaru Impreza Sports (105K mileage, red, ss exhaust, 17" speedline) - highest part ex. offer I've ever had is £4500 but this was against a crappy Scooby at a dealers.
They've got a Subaru Turbo T plate with 55k on the clock (possibly air con.) for £14995 - high price I know.
They've also got a Clio 172 (10miles / pre-registered altho untouched) with climate control, and all normal stuff for £14995 also.
I can buy any of the above on finance and receive a cheque for £3700 for mine against any one. If I buy the Scooby I can take my exhaust with me ! Question is which one would you have ?
I'm 21, Director of limited co. and can afford either but the cash back is nice, particularly as I don't have to pay the first payment until 60 days later. Cash can be used in the business and would be welcome.
I've driven both but wasn't quite used to the clio - however, the turbo blew my mind. As soon as the turbo kicked in I was pelted to the back of my seat and had to ease off the accelerator cuz I nearly sh*t myself !
Pro's of 172 is it's new, cheaper insurance, good fuel economy. COn's - it's not a scooby and doesn't look much from outside, lack of AWD.
Pro's of scooby - AWD, it's a scooby and it's a scooby - what more is there to say ?!?!?! :-)
Con's - fuel economy, high mileage
Questions to you :
Which one would you have out of the two I've mentioned ?
How good / bad is the handling on the 172 ?
I know that most of you are going to be biased but I need an honest opinion. I was impressed my both cars. Any further help or info is appreciated.
Thanks, Jai

Personally I think both cars are very dear. Sell your car privately/put it in a auction and get a loan for £12k which will get you a good MY99 (ie S, T or V reg), or a brand new clio 172 import (speak to litchfield imports). Certainly £500 off wouldn't tempt me to buy a brand new 172. Sounds like a very dear dealer to me. Personally I'd go for a MY99 rather than a 172, as the MY99 is faster and much more tuneable than the 172.
It sounds like the dealer has loaded the prices of their cars... Look elsewhere. I guess your car would make about £3500 at auction - maybe slightly more, you haven't said the year, but PX price isn't anything special.
Look around a little more IMHO - Scooby's are cheap at the moment!

impreza_sports_nutter, but can you afford to run the scoob in the long run, service cost, petrol, insurance etc, its alright getting the car but you must take everything into account.(and remember you'll be paying for the car too)
I agree with polarbearit that both motors r way over price and a loan from the bank would be a better option and then buy the car off here !!! But het thats just MHO.
