Does anyone else get this, When Im driving in residential areas, and NOT exceeding the speed limit, old men and women seem to give me a 'dissapproving shake of the head' or stop and 'fold their arms and stare at me with a stern look'. This realy winds me up as I consider myself to be a responsible driver, just because I am young in a loud fast car doesnt mean I am a dangerous tw*t!
Some idiot in a unnoticable car could drive past them at twice the speed and they wouldnt bat an eyelid.
Amyway, glad I got that off my chest, feel much better now
Rob.

Yep, I have the same problem with my car - scares all the pensioners in my area (believe me there are loads)... Always get disapproving looks even at 10-15 mph - but with a full exhaust a 5" tailpipe what did I expect
It does get annoying - I've had people tell me I was driving too fast when I was driving at less than 20

Are they giving me disapproving looks?I cant read people very well,I thought they were admiring the car and the odd look of jealousy!
I usually just smile and wave, the lucky ones get a little rev of the engine too!
Sod 'em all mate!

I used to get flashed...............by car headlights when I overtook, despite perfectly straight road and 'normal' overtaking speed. It really started to get me down to the point of considering selling the car. Then for a totally unrelated reason I changed the backbox for a Prodrive WR Sport and hey presto no more flashing.
I've come to the conclusion that it was the soundtrack that accompanied the move rather than the move itself. Having since been on the receiving end in my brothers car I must admit it is how I imagine been straffed by an F15 is like .
Otis.

OVer taking thing is a good point, i usually get flashed by oncoming traffic in normal, make it with ease maneouvres. Lorries in particular, is this a kewl car or oi nutter flash ya reckon? I appreciate the car probably moves alot faster than they reckon

I'm sure they never had scoobysport/sports exhausts on road cars "during the war". I of course respect my elders, but if they start to get funny about noise just remind them of how much noise they made during WW2, e.g. bombs and machine guns, then tell them to go and get their pensions and have a cup of tea and a luxury chocolate biscuit on you.

Rob, I'm old, in a loud fast car, and get the same looks! Age does not have anything to do with it. I am at the stage where being called a 'boy racer' is a real compliment.
My two favourites are - young women in small hatches who totally ignore any urban speed limit, even near schools (check out the driver next time you see a speeding hatch in a built up area) - the 40mph in a 60 limit bozo (often in a 4 or 5 year old Micra) who then procedes to continue at 40 in a 30. They don't get the looks (apart from me that is).
Just like you, I can be doing 30 but by the looks you would think I was driving at 130 with the ALS on (surely my SS back-box isn't that loud).

Just make a few mental notes here cos I bet when the grey hairs start sprouting and thoughts turn to more sensible modes of transport many of us will start moaning about how noisy the cars are today compared to the nice quiet Subaru's of our youth.
The real worry are the people who either drive as if their car has been programmed to drive at 40mph in all conditions or cars that are simply not fit to be on the road. I saw one the other day that must have had the rear shocks removed!

I get it all the time. I have a large field right near my house and have a lot of dog walkers around all the time and they always seem to give disapproving looks. Thought i was imagining it maybe - glad others have thought the same!

Rikki, you maybe need to stop and remind the "lookers" that a) You live there, b) You pay an awfull lot of money to drive on the public highway and c) They pay nothing to let thier dogs **** all over the place!!!
Just look the other way, if thats all they gotta worry about then they must have sad little lives !

Are you sure they weren't looking in disbelief at your latest bodywork prototype?
By the way are you now supplying through TSL, Trouser said he was talking to you after seeing my front air dam.

Drove around the beautiful island of Arran last summer.
Hot day, loads of tourists eveywhere - motorists, cylists, walkers etc etc etc
(If Arran was deserted and not subject to any traffic laws, then the main road around the island would make an excellent rally stage!)
The reality was, though, that it would IMHO have been unsafe to even reach the speed limit most of the time, so we took it nice and easy and pootled around all day.
Still got loads of dirty looks. As if to say - we don't like you boy racers round these parts...
oh well....
